what a day!

The birds are singing, the sun is shining and it is a great day to wear shorts, finally. Vermont what a magical place. This day reminds me of a song I wrote called "Oh Butterfly" This is a beautiful song I wrote about a lovely Oct. afternoon sitting out with my mom and sister, Diana trying to get a picture of a butterfly. Diana did get the picture, I did write the song, and we all had such an awesome afternoon together just enjoying the day. I sang "Oh Butterfly" at Miltons girl day last weekend and one of the mothers told me there was a butterfly around me the whole time I sang it. Check out my website "girlwithguitar.com" to hear the song and check out the lyrics. Stop worrying about what tomorrow will bring, Find a reason today to let your heart sing, for there is beauty in this moment trust and you will see, the greatest gift of all is in the mystery! Everyone enjoy this day.

"Always Play"

Yesterday I was reading a poem from my book "Better Days". It has been so much fun rereading what I wrote a few years ago. so I read a poem "Always Play" In the story that goes along with the poem I wrote about a little girls excitement including punches with her fist and Yes Yes my friend is coming over. In my mind I thought when and where did I lose my passion for the simple things & I smiled. This story inspired me and today I decided at lunch to take my basketball out of my car, walk to the park and shoot a few hoops. First shot didn't I make a basket and my ball got stuck. I looked up and said oh crap. I spent the next few minutes cracking up and finding a big stick to release my ball from captivity. Man did this exercise bring me back to my childhood in a big way. What a wonderful blessing to still feel the urge to play. Keep exploring, keep learning, keep enjoying the little things day to day. Hey everyone have a great mothers day. I will remember my mom on Sunday and think about what a great job she did helping me growup and stay young at heart.

Well at work today another friend came in to give me a thumbs up on Better Days the poetry/story book I wrote. Very intimidating, but cool to have friends truly enjoying it. The biggest reviews I am getting is that it is very honest. Couldn't the world use that? I have 4 reviews out on amazon.com/books/Rachel Hamilton Better Days. If you have read the book and enjoyed it please let other people know and help me out by placing an amazon review. Thanks everyone and stay tuned.

quote of the day

I spoke with a woman at the supermarket today. It was 6:30 in the morning and she told me it was going to be a long day and very busy. I thought I imagine it is if you are all ready planning on it. So the quote of the day is:

To be honest your day will go pretty much the way you think it will. So I claim it is going to be a great day. It was. I had an opportunity to take a nice midday walk to the lake. What a blessing to work at place that is close to the lake and I have time to take a walk. I am truly blessed.

Hope you all have a great Holiday Weekend Easter or Passover everyone enjoy.

What are the odds March 21st and 3 days in a row over 70 degrees. Can't help but wonder what did we Vermonters do to be so blessed. I went to buy a rake and the cashier said he had sold more rakes in two days than he had sold shovels all winter. Amazing, I think I will be thankful and just enjoy the ride.

The Unicorn Song

Yep St. Paddys day yesterday. I went to the open mic at the Cosmic Bakery in St. Albans with my sister Diana. We had a nice homemade mac&cheese;with a side salad. Every Sat 7-9 pm there is an open mic so all you musicians, story tellers, poets and comedians go ahead down and strut you stuff. For St. Paddys day I rocked the house with a few Irish songs: Sweet Molly Malone, 500 miles, and The Unicorn Song. I had plenty of help with the singing and it was pretty fun. Thank you to all my sing-a-long buddies you sounded great. Holly sorry you missed the Unicorn Song really could have used your help.

Friday just keeps rolling around doesn't it? Did the time change kick anyone elses behind? I will tell you I was dragging by 3:30 this afternoon. I did take in the North Carolina and UVM game. I hope everyone will enjoy the 70ish, sunny weather this weekend. I believe I will just relax this weekend and I hope you all will be able to do the same. There is a good chance I will be at the Cosmic Bakery's open mic 7-9 pm tomorrow night if you get a chance stop on by. They serve food etc. So you can grab a bite to eat and enjoy some free music. Either way happy St. Pats day everyone.

Book Reviews

Hello and thank you to all of you who not only purchased my book, but have been coming by to let me know what you think of my book. So far the biggest thing people like about the book is my honesty, the little stories after each poem, and of course almost everyone has a favorite poem. Official reviews can be placed at Amazon.com and that really helps me out. Just go to amazon.com and look up books the isbn # is 978-1-4327-8603-8 in case you have read the book and would like to help me out by doing a review. Also to all of you who have come back to buy a book for a friend that is huge so thank you. I just felt the need to share the journey so far. Hope you are all well and have a great day.

I certainly don't feel like I am springing, actually dragging just a bit. How is everyone else doing with the time change? This was the weekend of the beCause Craft Show. Thank you to everyone who was able to participate and for everyone who couldn't make it we missed you. Diana, my sister as usual you rock. My sister spent the whole day helping me out at the craft show and than wrote a check to donate to my charity of choice, The Arthritis Foundation. Diana you are very appreciated. I am so blessed, I met a friend for a yoga class this afternoon and than still had time to meet my sister for a nordic walk. It was a great day in good ole Vermont.
